Link to Document

To link to a document, you must first select the text, or the image, you want to link then choose Link > To document from the Menu Bar. The Satellite Window will open to the Insert Link screen.

  • Choose a document to link to from the pull down menu.
  • Click the Apply button

Only click the Apply button once, then wait for sWord to park the Satellite Window and update the document you are working on.

If at any point you decide not to create a link, simply press the close button. sWord will park the Satellite Window, the link will not be added, and no changes will take place in your main browser screen.

Note: sWord will only list documents for which you have viewing rights.

Why is sWord asking me to provide the text to link?

This means that you probably didn't select any text or image prior to using the Link > To document command. At this point you have two options.

  • If the text you want to link is contained in the paragraph currently selected, then you can type in the text in the field, then proceed as usual.
  • If you want to link an image, or text you want to link is not contained in the paragraph currently selected, or if you just don't feel like manually typing that in, then click the Close button. sWord will park the Satellite Window without applying any changes. At this point, select the text or select the image that you want to link, and try again.
